You hear a lot about masks (no not the ones we have to wear out in public) and you see them everywhere but why do they matter? Should you be using one regularly or just on special occasions?
WHY & WHEN?
Skincare mask(s) as I will call them, are an easy way to address a specific concern with your skin, no matter what products you are already using. They can certainly be used as one time treatments, but like all skincare you will see the biggest benefit with ongoing and consistent use.
HOW TO USE
Before using a face mask, be sure to wash your face with a gentle cleanser and warm water to remove any makeup, dirt or residue. Using warm water allows the pores to stay open and for the ingredients to seep in better.
TYPES OF MASKS
Here are a few common ingredients to look for on the label when trying to combat a skin concern:
Dry skin: hyaluronic acid // R+F Redefine Rejuvenation Mask hydrates tired, dry skin to smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles over time. This bubbly blue mask contains our proprietary 3D3P Molecular Matrix with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid + Glycerin to draw moisture from the air and lock it onto skin for smoother, softer, more radiant-looking skin. Jojoba beads exfoliate dead skin cells to remove dullness and reveal younger-looking skin.
Acne & blemishes: sulfur, salicylic acid and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) // R+F Unblemish Clarifying Mask reduces excess oil, unclogs pores and removes impurities from the surface of skin. It then calms skin, resulting in fewer blemishes and clearer skin over time. Using the maximum concentration of purifying Sulfur, this face mask helps treat existing acne and prevent new breakouts from forming
Rosacea or Sensitive Skin: niacinamide. // R+F Soothe Sensitive Skin Mask. When your moisture barrier is compromised, moisture can escape and irritants can get through to skin. With moisture-attracting Glycerin, this calming green mask helps skin feel softer instantly and more comfortable over time. Plus, Calamine calms skin and neutralizes irritants to help relieve stressed skin.
Dark spots & pigmentation: glycolic or kojic acid, tranexamic acid and licorice root extract. // R+F Reverse Brightening & Exfoliating Mask. Made with brightening Retinal-MD Technology, exfoliating Glycolic Acid and Turmeric Extract to boost radiance, this metallic cream mask revives the look of dull, uneven skin as it brightens
Oily skin: charcoal // R+F Recharge Detox Mask which is fortified with Charcoal to help draw out impurities and environmental pollutants that accumulate throughout the week. Mango Seed Butter, Coconut Oil + Avocado Oil provide intensive moisture replenishment and nourishing fatty acids for softer, more supple-feeling skin, while Volcanic Sand exfoliates to reveal a radiant complexion.
